Keeping cool, staying healthy—Gaza’s Ismael family always do their best. Left to right: Lina, Muhammad, JoJo, Dina and Ghada stay close and enjoy new living spaces as the apartheid prison called Gaza grinds people down
In Gaza there’s no better way to beat the summer heat than a visit to the seashore
JoJo shows his sisters how to catch some cool waves
The children’s regular blood test at the UNRWA health center found that young twins Lina and Dina suffer from anemia. The prescription: five bottles of an iron-supplemental syrup (below)after which they must brush their teeth, and—every effort to provide a more nourishing diet
Hummus—served with pickled and plain fresh cucumber—includes chickpea and sesame paste with lemon and sumac topping. Loaded with vitamins!
As a loving father Muhammad managed to buy two kilos of fresh smelts for his children’s meals
And of course, tasty and nourishing fresh-fried falafel—a mix of chickpeas, ground onion, sesame, det, parsley, pepper, coriander and yeast. Who is that grabbing for another one?Muhammad and Ghada supplement all this with chicken kidneys, turkey breast, potatoes, tomatoes, eggs and fresh fruit
Dina needed new glasses to correct an eye problem—and how about that, she likes them!
And then there’s the pleasure of catching some cartoons in the new “large room”—one of three that our “Family To Family” project has created for the Ismael family. You too can bring palpable positive improvements to the lives of Palestinian people locked for 15 years in the apartheid prison called Gaza
JoJo goes for a drive around the new children’s room
And then there’s the new bedroom where Muhammad and Ghada (below) find good rest from the daily crises and challenges of life in the world’s largest open-air prison
And this is what (and whom) it’s all about—a new dream for a new future of freedom, equality, justice and peace for the next Palestinian generations
